Who can join?

  • Any child aged 7 years or older.

  • Our U9, U11 and U13 teams are mixed-gender.

  • Our teams at U15, U17 and senior are single gender (boys).

Do I need to be able to swim?

  • If you are aged 11 and over, you must be able to swim at least 50m (one length) in two different strokes.

  • If you are aged under 11 you don’t have to be able to swim but you should also be taking swimming lessons. We have sessions that are split between swim improvement and learning to play water polo. These take place in the Falls Leisure Centre on a Thursday evening (see training page for more info).

  • If you are a senior player you must be an experienced and confident swimmer.

When and where are the sessions?

  • We have sessions in the Grove Leisure Centre and the Falls Leisure Centre.

  • Details of our training sessions are available on our training page.

Can I try it out?

  • We offer free taster sessions to anyone who is interested. Click here to request a taster session.

  • You will come to a session and we will assess your ability before placing you with a group. You’ll work on your swimming and be playing with the ball before long.

  • The taster session is free. If you’d like to come back we’ll ask you to fill out a registration form and speak to you about fees.

How do I join?

  • If you want to commit to training and playing for the club, fill out a registration form.

  • We have a document setting out fees. If you’d like to know more, contact us or get in touch with a coach.

What do I need to bring?

  • A swim suit (remember shorts slow you down and make it difficult to kick effectively).

  • Goggles.

  • A swim hat if you have long hair (we can provide one, if necessary).

Why water polo?

  • It’s a great work out that improves strength, fitness and flexibility.

  • It strengthens the mind too as you need to appreciate tactics and commit to training.

  • It develops team work and leadership skills.

  • It’s for people of all abilities.
